Hello folks and welcome to the first (of hopefully many more) guide that I will be writing for the owners of the Tamagotchi P's version. This toy is released in Japan in late 2012 and while many users who don't speak Japanese have found their way around the toy thanks to many helpful forums (TamaTalk and Tama-Zone to name a few) but I'm still getting asked many questions via this site and on Twitter about many different things about this feature-packed version, so I decided to start writing guides to help out more people.
Our first guide will be the Part-Time Jobs feature. Yes, for the P's version you can send your Tamagotchi character to work for a few hours a day and earn Gotchi Points (GP) which you can use to buy food, items and other necessities. Not only this is a feature helpful to everyone with a busy schedule, but it helps users earn much-needed GPs and a bit of time-management lessons too!
How to get a part-time job?
First you need a full-grown adult character. Younger characters will have the School/Daycare function instead.
Listed below are four possible places where your character can work, and the requirements before your character can work there:
Tsubomi Park: Visit the park 10 times or more
TamaDepa: Shop at the TamaDepa and buy 2 or more items
Tamamori Shop: Shop at the Tamamori and buy 2 or more items
Music Cafe: Eat 10 or more cafe items
NOTE: The actions performed when your character was younger are counted. For example, if your character visited the park 10 times or more during their younger stages, they will be automatically made eligible to work for the park upon turning adulthood.
You can start obtaining a part-time job by going to Tsubomi Park (second option under the Door icon) every morning between 7 AM to 10 AM and meet the town's part-time job manager, Charapapatchi (the blue guy).
If you try to visit the park between 7 AM and 10 AM and you are either a) a non-adult character or b) not eligible to work on any of the four establishments, Charapapatchi will talk to your character:
Translation: "You can't get a part-time job yet."
On the other hand, Charapapatchi will give you the choices where your character can work. Select from the four options presented on the next screen. Note that if your choice is grayed out, it means your character is not yet eligible for work in that specific location. You can press the C button to cancel and do complete the necessary tasks. Otherwise press B to confirm your selection.
Translation: "We are recruiting part-time workers! What would you like to do?"
On this example, our character chose to work at the park. Your character will then be approached by the location's manager and you will be taken back to the living room screen with a sign that says "At Work".
Translation: "Provide any assistance to anyone in trouble."
You can now leave your Tamagotchi device to work for a few hours. If you'd like to check them out occasionally while at work, simply select the door icon again. A short animation of your character at work will be shown.
After the short animation, the device will prompt you if you'd like to send the character home or continue working.
If you chose to stay, you will be taken back to the living room with the "At Work" sign. Otherwise if you chose to go home, your character will be given their compensation based on the number of hours worked. All part-time jobs pay 250 GPs per hour.
Translation: "Thank you for your hard work in patrolling! Please take this."
Take note that part-time jobs make your character's Happy and Hungry metres deplete much faster than normal, so make sure to fill them up before working and check out their stats every now and then!
If your character has accumulated a total of 30 hours of work on a single establishment, other than their payment, your character will also be awarded with a special item. Listed below are the special items that will be given at each location:
Tsubomi Park: Patrol Hat or Police Uniform
Tama Depa: Tamadepa Hat or Tamadepa Outfit
Tamamori Shop: Cash register or Clothes hanger
Music Cafe: Cafe Accessory or Maid Uniform
Got more to ask?
For more questions or request for a topic to be discussed with regards to the Tamagotchi P's, you can reach me through my Contact Page or if you're a member of the TamaTalk/Tama-Zone forums, look for me, ichiro.malfoy.
Dear Ichiro, can we accumulate that 30 hours of single work from different characters, or we can accumulate it from a single character? Hoping that you read and reply this msg asap Thank you.
Yes, you need a single character to accumulate all 30 hours. What I usually do is send them to work about 5-6 hours a day and it took almost 1 week to complete all those 30 hours.
